John and Margo Damoose have poured their lives into Northern Michigan

It's where they've raised their 4 children, ran a successful business, and where John serves as the current 107th House District Representative. John has fought for conservative values since serving as President of the College Republicans at the University of Michigan. John is an experienced and successful businessman - not a politician.

Upon graduating from University of Michigan in 1994, John began his career in Virginia, but as is the case with many Michiganders, John returned to Michigan with his wife - vowing never to move away from this great state again.

John's roots run deep in Northern Michigan. He’s been a part of the Harbor Springs community for more than 40 years, his grandfather was the City Manager in Traverse City, and his grandmother was one of the original co-founders of the beloved Old Town Playhouse in Traverse City.

John and his father started 45 North Productions, with the expressed purpose of telling the stories of character, sacrifice, and dedication that made America a great nation. In the course of the next twenty years, this pursuit would lead John to co-author and produce nine national television specials on all-American themes like Arlington National Cemetery, the Medal of Honor, Military Families, NASA, and many others. John and his father were contracted by the Department of Defense to produce the official documentary celebrating the opening of the Pentagon 9/11 Memorial, both of them having been in the very corridor of the Pentagon when the plane struck 7 years earlier.

Throughout the years, 45 North Productions has produced dozens of high-profile tribute videos for leaders from all walks of life, and interviewed hundreds of the nation's top political, military and corporate leaders. From each of them - including two Presidents, numerous Secretaries of Defense and Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs, and dozens of U.S. Senators and Representatives, he learned lessons about leadership, government, and solid conservative principles that help guide him as he fights for our Michigan values.

John is a proven conservative leader, who is already taking the fight to Lansing. He has stood firm against the Governor's endless mandates, fought the bureaucracies, and built consensus on issues that matter most to Northern Michigan.

After much prayer and encouragement from throughout the community to take on this challenge, John is proud to announce his candidacy for the open 37th Senate District seat and continue our fight for Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.
